Man in the Booth – Little Tokyo

LA-2013-JL-39

This is one of those images where creativity and beauty revealed themselves. Often I find that I am just the avenue, the tool, that creativity uses to reveal itself.

I was walking in little tokyo in Los Angeles, and I saw this guy sitting in his booth, so I quickly raised my camera up, without looking through the view finder, and snapped a picture, thankfully it was on auto focus. We kept walking. Later that evening as I was looking through my photos, my eyes were surprised to find this beautiful image. There is beauty everywhere.

Thanksgiving Dinner Lobster

I consider eating lobster for thanksgiving as a very appropriate dinner because it is delicious, and because during the colonial times many Native Americans ate lobster regularly. In contrast, amongst the colonizers, lobster was seen as a poverty food; it was mainly served to prisoners. A 2011 Time magazine article stated,  “servants specified in employment agreements that they would not eat lobster more than twice per week.” It is a strange delectable meal.

Punk Kids

This is one of my favorite photos of my sister and I. It was taken by my Dad, with film, in 1995ish. I don’t   know if we were stopped from playing and asked to pose or why I have such a funny stance, but the picture is epic. I love all the birds and the fact that my pants are cut offs and I don’t have a shirt.  My sister looks like she could be the girl from Les Miserable (a taller version). The birds remind me of those painted in Giottos painting – St. Francis preaching to the birds. Epic Photo.
